Gsystems completes construction of Israel’s largest solar energy project with a capacity of 1.2 MW

January 7, 2010

Gsystems Solar Solutions recently completed construction of Israel’s largest solar energy project with a capacity of 1.25 MW for the Jerusalem Economic Real Estate Company.

Project construction took 10 weeks, and includes 22 solar energy systems in the Atarot industrial zone and three systems in Givat Shaul, with a capacity of 50 kW per system. The systems were constructed on the rooftops of the Jerusalem Economic Company of the Fishman Group, and are expected to produce more than 2,000 MW hours per year and prevent the emission of more than 1,500 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

Gsystems, which employs more than 35 people, develops and builds the systems with the company’s skilled and experienced teams – a fact that enables the company to provide top quality results in the shortest time possible. Since it began operating in the sphere of solar energy systems in early 2008, the company has built more than 80 solar energy systems with a total capacity of over 3 MW for leading customers in the economy, such as the Fishman Group.

The Director-General of the Jerusalem Economic Company, Mr. Oded Shamir, says that the project enables JEC to efficiently use the rooftops of the buildings it owns while giving its shareholders added value and making a meaningful contribution to the environment. In light of the experience gained during recent months and thanks to the close and successful cooperation with Gsystems, JEC intends to continue looking into additional projects in the sphere of photovoltaic systems.

Dr. Israel Ohana, CEO of Gsystems, notes that the majority this unique project was constructed on nine adjacent buildings. thereby creating a decentralized solar energy farm with an overall capacity of more than 1 MW. This project proves that photovoltaic projects with significant capacities can be built on building rooftops in industrial areas and within a very short time period. This approach enables maximum land utilization for the benefit of generating electricity from renewable energy sources.
